AviClear

AviClear is a new FDA-cleared laser treatment designed to address mild to severe inflammatory acne at its source. It uses a 1726-nanometer wavelength laser to selectively target and reduce activity in the skin’s sebaceous (oil) glands—decreasing excess oil production and helping to prevent breakouts. It is safe for all skin tones, including those prone to pigmentation, thanks to its built-in cooling system (AviCool) that helps protect surrounding skin and improve comfort.

What to Expect at Your AviClear Appointment

Before beginning with the AviClear treatment, your skin undergoes a comprehensive cleansing and preparation process. Subsequently, protective goggles shield your eyes, and a cooling gel is gently applied to the treatment area. This serves to safeguard the skin and reduce any potential discomfort throughout the procedure.

The actual treatment time can vary based on the areas being treated but generally takes around 30 to 60 minutes. During the session, you may experience a mild warming or tingling sensation as the Aviclear technology is applied to your skin. The process is designed to be relatively comfortable, and the provider will ensure you are at ease throughout the procedure.

AviClear Maintenance Recommendations

Immediately after the procedure, apply mineral sunscreen with SPF 50, continuing with 1-2 daily applications. Use cold compresses or gel packs for comfort and contact the provider if blisters develop. The morning after treatment, cleanse with a gentle cleanser, followed by a gentle, oil-free moisturizer applied twice daily for 3-5 days. Resume the regular skincare regimen after this period.

Emphasize daily use of mineral SPF 50, reapplying every 2-3 hours outdoors, and minimize direct sun exposure during the treatment. Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning lotions for 2-4 weeks post-treatment to prevent pigmentation issues. Mineral makeup, preferably recommended, can be applied the day after treatment with SPF 50 underneath. Mild redness and swelling may occur, and some clients might experience dryness and itching for up to four weeks.

Post-inflammatory flareups are common, and avoid heat sources like hot tubs and saunas for 1-2 days post-treatment. Adhering to these guidelines ensures a safe and effective recovery process.

AviClear Maintenance Schedule

After completing the AviClear treatment, dermatologists may schedule follow-up appointments to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the treatment and address any post-treatment considerations.
